An amusing review – originally written on Gamespot by Greg Kasavin (now their Executive Editor) but since lost in their archives – which looks at Chess as if it were a computer game. It concludes:

“In light of this game’s boundless oversights and limitations, there is no chance it could ever enjoy the sort of success that makes games like Westwood’s C&C: Red Alert and Blizzard’s Warcraft II the classics they are to this day.”

  1. The review was very very funny, but just shows that fancy graphics and animations are not just what makes great games. In the same way that SouthPark cartoon is effective for its content and witty scripting, Chess is an effective and absorbing game for its complexity and deep beauty.
