Tobacco advertising of almost all kinds is to be banned across the UK by the end of the year. It’s about time! Now if we could get a ban on smoking in places serving food…

  1. I agree. People have a right to smoke, but not at the expense of other in closed areas like a restaurant.

  2. I’am not a smoker, but I do feel people have the right to smoke if they want to.There’s this gadget they made years ago,it still works wonders today,it is called a exhaust fan.

  3. I only wish that exhaust fans did work, but I am not convinced. In any case, not being able to smoke while eating might give the smoker one more good reason to quit, perhaps saving the odd life…

  4. 1) exhaust fans don’t work very well, as we discovered in Toronto when we tried that solution.

    2) exhaust fans, separately vented rooms, etc. don’t solve the second-hand smoke problem for one specific group: the staff. They have rights too, of course, which is the final drive behind Toronto’s all out smoking ban (goes into effect next year, IIRC).
