Every week I am emailed a list of the keywords people have searched this site for when they use the search box at the right (don’t worry – it doesn’t tell me who makes these searches). No more than one in ten of these seem to be searching for anything that makes sense to me, however. I just don’t understand what these people are looking for and why they think I might have alluded to it.

I am even starting to wonder whether somehow I might be getting someone else’s searches… Here are the 12 searches made last week:

200 million
200 million hours
dilmah
filipino
megan schoendorf
new survey
pedo
phillipines
sdfg
tabb

Could anyone who made one of those searches tell me why? Any other strange search stories people would like to share?

  1. Well, one looked like a babe search. A couple are
probably acronyms, or imagined acronyms. As to
stuff like “200 million”, there are a lot of
pretty undisciplined minds using search engines.
That one could have been thinking, “Gee, how long
would it take me to make 200 million dollars if
my salary doubles every year?”, turned to the
keyboard, and typed in “200 million.”

I kid you not. One has to watch users in action
to appreciate how mindless their behavoiur can be.

  2. There is a brand of tea marketed under the name Dilmah. Perhaps the searcher was hunting for a local distributor or retailer.
