I am strangely fascinated by 40s and 50s era propaganda – obviously so is Micah Wright who has created a fascinating collection of posters with new slogans to replace the old WWII ones.

  1. War and violence. The ruling class is running out of ideas. They are getting older in thier minds and in their ways. Fear had us fooled for a long time almost 50 years or more. Now too many of us are wise to their tricks – a huge indicator of that is the fact that George W. Bush is president of this country. No other president has seemed so untruthful to me. In almost every press conference, public speech, or any kind of sound byte I have felt that he does not represent you or me and all the people of this land. That’s right I said FELT. I realize that people would want proof for those claims and not feelings. People would ask, ‘Why do you feel that way’ I could only answer. “I just know”. I know that there are a lot of good people all over the world that feel this way. That can be a very powerful thing for us. People this is our only weopon. Whatever the president represents has the military, the media, and the judicial system at it disposal – it would be hard to go up against those things. We can only look into ourselves right now and remove all of the old codes, frames of mind, and negative behaviors that seem to mirror George W. Bush and the entities that own him. Each one of us knows our own demons. When more of us begin to truely do this then we will become a force that can change the tide. I am working on this myself – I am doing as much as I can. Right now I am writing this and this was the last thing I thought I’d be doing today. The wealth owners on this planet are afraid that we will get strong and wise – which is why war pops up from time to time. We are learning that there are other ways to live on this planet – positive ways. Fear motivates them. We do not need thier wants, we do not need to motive as they do. I know that this can work. It is simply to turn inside and care for the good things in yourself. Such a simple and complex approach to living. A formula that is as old as humanity and has never been bought or sold. Thanks for reading if you got this far.

  2. The USA killed 200,000 Iraqis in 1991 with Bush’s Desert Storm; we fired 300 tons of depleted uranium shells and now thousands more Iraqis are dying of radiation poisoning.

1.5 million Iraqis starved to death after we imposed sanctions according to UNICEF; 600,000 of the dead are children.

Iraq had no defence against the USA last time and has even less now. The new Bush will massacre them again.

The USA put Saddam’s Baathist party in power with a coup in 1963, and we are responsible for all Iraq’s suffering. Shouldn’t we take Saddam out with another coup, instead of killing another 200,000 Iraqis?

(Journalist John Pilger, who frequently visits Iraq, has front page articles in UK national newspapers verifying these figures; copies at http://www.johnpilger.com) or see:
