Tripod, one of the leading purveyors of easy to create web pages, has launched a DIY blog service (currently only available to paying Tripod subscribers, however). AOL is clearly interested as well. Can Microsoft and Geocities be far behind?

  1. Microsoft are getting into the blogging arena. And in an 800 pound gorilla crossed with a lion type way. (To use a impossible creatures analogy)

Less like a blog, and more like business/project wikis.

Gates gave a talk at some conference recently and outlined some new product/service that would allow people to use a super blog thing that would store all your personal information in a journal style. You could give people different levels of access, so at the surface it would appear like a blog. I had a search for some reference but couldn’t find anything… maybe he was just talking about sharepoint… but if I remember rightly it sounded much more consumer focused.
